The Riley Digital Printing Studio (DPS) features desktop and wide-format, pigment-based archival quality printing on state of the art Epson inkjet printers. The studio utilizes Apple workstations and has Epson flatbed scanners for documents and film. Computer monitors are color calibrated with 5000K “daylight” room illumination to ensure accurate color control and print viewing. Primary Software: Adobe Creative Studio, iLife, Microsoft Office.

The Riley Hall Metal Shop & Foundry is fully equipped with stationary power tools for the fabrication of sculptures in steel, bronze and aluminum. The Metal foundry is equipped to pour small and mid-sized castings in bronze and aluminum. Our foundry students employ lost-wax, resin sand and traditional casting processes.

The Printmaking Studio supports printmaking applications, including stone lithography, photolithography, copper plate etching, relief, serigraphy, letterpress, papermaking, and book arts. The Studio is well lit and spacious, providing an inviting atmosphere for faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students to create prints regardless of any experience.

The lighting studios located in Riley Hall offer students a fully outfitted, professional-level facility for coursework and research projects. Each studio provides lighting equipment, seamless backdrops, iMac computer with wireless camera tethering, and a dedicated Canon camera kit. Photography students also have access to our photographic equipment cage that provides 24-hour checkout of camera kits, lenses, portable lighting kits and a wide range of imaging related accessories.

The West Lake Fabrication Shop is a production facility featuring a wide range of tools for developing 3-dimensional prototypes, final presentation models and products in a variety of materials. The shop is equipped with modern stationary power tools, portable power tools and traditional hand tools capable of performing a wide variety of operations with wood, composite and plastic materials. Stationary power tools include a table saw, band saw, miter saw, panel saw, drill press and sanders. The shop also has a spray booth available for painting and several digital fabrication tools including a laser cutter, CNC router, vacuum former and 3D printer.

The West Lake 2D design studio primarily supports visual communication design instruction and research in the Department of Art, Art History and Design. The studio has 21 Apple Macintosh workstations and several Epson flatbed scanners for documents and film. The room is also equipped with a projector for lectures, critiques and multi-media presentations.

The West Lake 3D design studio supports industrial design instruction and research in the Department of Art, Art History and Design. The studio has 17 Apple Macintosh workstations (supporting OSX and Windows) and two Epson flatbed scanners for documents and film. Additionally, each station is equipped with a 12WX Cintiq graphics tablet. The room has two LCD flat-panel displays for lectures, critiques and multi-media presentations.
